遊子悲 [yusi kanashimu] (A traveler with sorrow)
白き水鳥は、旅の途中
枯れ蘆の蔭に羽を休め、故郷を想い春を待つ
人生は旅人
White waterfowl, during its flights
rests its feathers in the winter reed bed
It awaits the spring as it thinks of its home afar
Life is a traveler

迎 [mukaeru, gei] (Welcome, Receive, Confront)
「迎える」の語源は「向き合う」とか
・・・曽我ひとみさんの、夫を迎える瞬間に感動。
水鳥も何かと向き合っている
The etymology of ”Mukaeru” is to face each other. in Japanese.
How touching was the reunion of Hitomi Soga with her husband.
So too a waterfowl meets something everyday.

千寿 [senju] (Long life, a thousand years)
千年生きるといわれるツルの佇まい
長寿はよき事かな
A crane is said to live a 1000 years.
How blessed are the long-lived.
